The Sultry Margarita - WSJ.com
…a decade after the war, the Tequila Daisy had disappeared, supplanted by an upstart cocktail called the Margarita. No one knows quite where or how. Among the classics of the cocktail bar, the Margarita is something of a latecomer. And yet, though of relatively recent vintage, the origin of the Margarita has been every bit as obscure as that of drinks a hundred years its senior.
Very interesting article, and I’m on board with his statement …
Alas, for the near-ubiquity of Margaritas today, I suspect that very few have tasted the real deal. Saccharine glop extruded from machines is not the real deal. Nor is anything that comes pre-mixed in a bottle. And sorry, a can of frozen limeade, blended with ice and tequila doesn’t count either.
I thought didn’t like Margaritas, until I had a real one.
